YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN  I really wanted to hate this movie so much based on the trailers and Sandler's past couple of films but his outrageous performance won me over and made me chuckle throughout the entire film. The trailers for this film lead me to believe that it would horrendous and just another Sandler dud. Now, just to give some history on where I stand with the guy, I would say that my favorite film of his is Happy Gilmore. The scene between him and Bob Barker is priceless. No pun intended. I know everyone's go to is Billy Madison. While that movie is hilarious, I still found Gilmore to have more memorable scenes. Do you remember Ben Stiller as the crazy nursing home nurse? You Don't Mess With The Zohan is definitely the strangest thing that Sandler has ever done, not counting his fantastic performance in Paul Thomas Anderson's Punch Drunk Love, where he tried the serious role and actually succeeded. I thought he succeeded pretty well in Reign Over Me with Don Cheadle as well. Enough small talk though. Let's TALK ZOHAN because honestly, he might be the next HERO of cinema. The dude is a pure genius and comes to you from a co-written script by Adam Sandler himself... | ||||||

TRUE ROMANCE (1993) Hands down my favorite film of all time! This film was written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott (Man on Fire, Enemy of the State). The scene that takes place between Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper is a masterpiece. The film also stars Gary Oldman, Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Brad Pitt, James Gandolfini, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Penn, Tom Sizemore and Michael Rappaport. |

Director Edgar Wright also talked to me about Spaced starring Simon Pegg. Wright directed some of my favorite movies of all time; Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead and he also directed the trailer for "Don't," which was in Grindhouse.

7/01/08: I interviewed writer/director TROY DUFFY, who directed The Boondock Saints, on my show on June 29th. He broke down all of the legal issues and problems he had with the first film and officially announced that he will start filming The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day in late August/early September 2008.
