January 2007

1/8/07: I have a Kevin Smith signed Clerks II poster, not the one that I received from him, but it is real. All you have to do is answer a trivia question and your name will be thrown into a drawing and on February 1st, I will pick the winner. It is that simple. Good Luck...-bdk

1/17/07: I have 100 free passes to give away for a movie called God Grew Tired Of Us. The screening is on Thursday, January 18th at the Landmark E Street Cinema in Washington DC. E-MAIL ME at bdk@bdkreviews.com as soon as possible if you want tickets to this screening. I will not be hosting it, but you can pick up the tickets at WJFK, which is located at 10800 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030.

1/17/07: Hey what's up everyone. I am going to be interviewing Craig Brewer on February 6th, about his new movie Black Snake Moan starring Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci. I think it looks pretty wild. Craig Brewer also directed a flick called Hustle and Flow, which was definitely one of my favorite movies of 2005. Check out the trailer for Black Snake Moan here.

1/22/07: Hey everyone, I had the chance to catch an advanced screening for RENO 911!: MIAMI tonight. I can't review it quite yet because it doesn't open until late February. The cool news is that the three of the cast members dropped by the screening. Thomas Lennon (who plays Lieutenant Jim Dangle), Ben Garant (who plays Deputy Travis Junior), and Niecy Nash (who plays Raineesha Williams) all came out. It was really funny how it all went down. They actually rode the metro from Union Station to Gallery Place Chinatown, where they got off and walked to the theatre. My boy Dan and I stopped to take pictures with Lieutenant Jim Dangle. I still need to get the pictures developed, so stay tuned for that.

1/23/07: The Oscar nominations are out and you can now check out BDK's Oscar predictions! Leave a message in the guestbook and let me know what you think.

1/28/07: On Thursday, February 1st, I will be attending a screening of The Astrounant Farmer starring Billy Bob Thornton. Billy Bob will actually be at the screening presenting the movie and doing a Q & A afterwards. I am going to try and sneak in a picture with him, my girlfriend Ashley and I. I am sure he will be cool.

1/28/07: I will be hanging out at Circuit City on Leesburg Pike on Tuesday, January 30 from 7am-9am with the new Junkette Christen. I will be promoting and giving away the brand new WINDOWS VISTA. Stop on by.

March 2007

3/4/07: Sup yall. If you have not seen BREACH, PLEASE GO SEE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Eric O' Neill, played by Ryan Phillippe, is responsible for taking down the greatest American spy in our nation's history, Robert Hanssen. I don't know if you all heard on Friday when The Junkies had Eric O'Neill in studio for an interview. In case you missed it, head on over to junkiesradio.com to check out the interview in the podcast section. Click here to see a picture of Eric O'Neill and I.

3/9/07: I just wanted to thank everyone for coming WJFK's screening of 300 on Tuesday, March 6th. There were well over 600 people in attendance. Tickets were given out through various media, one being through The Junkies and my website. It was easily our most successful screening to date, with our Borat screening right behind it. There were over 400 people at that one. It was great to meet everyone at the 300 screening and to introduce both theatres full of people before the movie started. I will see everyone at the next screening.

April 2007

4/2/07: Today, 4/2/07, was one of the biggest days in my life. The Junkies and I had a phone interview with Quentin Tarantino (my idol) to discuss his new flick Grindhouse. Check out the interview and let me know what you think. The first three minutes or so are before he calls in, so just stick with it.

4/4/07: David Arquette came in studio on 4/3 to promote his new flick The Tripper, which he wrote and directed. I actually had to walk him from his bus into the station, so I was able to talk to him about his character in Scream and that he shot his flick on 16mm film.

4/25/07: Thanks to Alfred for creating a new banner for the site!

June 2007

6/14/07: Last night, June 13, 2007, I attended a Washington, DC special screening for a film called Talk To Me, which stars Don Cheadle and tells the story of a famous DC radio jock named Petey Greene. Greene was an amazing radio host who told the "truth" to the people. Before the screening started I stood on the red carpet and I was able to interview Don Cheadle (Boogie Nights, Hotel Rwanda), Taraji P. Henson (Hustle and Flow—she was the main female star who actually did singing for the famous song which won an Oscar, "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp"), Dewey Hughes (a DC radio legend, who is married to Kathy Hughes (owner of Radio One)), and shockingly Omarosa from the The Apprentice was there. I have no idea why she was on the red carpet, but I still was able to ask her two questions. I am going to get the audio up on a computer probably next Monday and I will upload the interviews to my website so people can hear them. Talk To Me opens on July 13th and if you live in DC, you will absolutely love the film.

6/22/07: Click here to see my video and pictures from the June 20th DC premiere of Michael Moore's Sicko. I was live on the red carpet for the event.

7/26/07: This past weekend, Paramount Pictures flew me out to L.A. to see the new comedy from the guys on Saturday Night Live, HOT ROD. Not only did I get to see the movie on the PARAMOUNT PICTURES LOT, I was able to interview Andy Samberg ("SNL" -other guy in the DICK IN A BOX video), Ian McShane ("Deadwood"), Akiva Shaffer, Bill Hader ("SNL") and Danny McBride. The interviews will be posted soon, but for now, you can see some of the pictures from the trip, by clicking here.

7/26/07: WJFK-FM is actually letting me try out for my own show on Sunday, 6:30-7:00p.m. I will be doing a movie-based show and I will be giving away tickets to the DC screening of Rush Hour 3. I have created a pretty cool movie game that I will use to give away the passes. PLEASE TUNE IN and CALL IN!! 800-636-1067.

August 2007

8/2-4/07: When I was out in L.A. for the HOT ROD press junket, they passed around a piece of paper asking for our quotes about the film. I wrote down a quote that I thought was decent and AMAZINGLY it made it into the film's advertisements. On Sunday, July 29th, the New York Post ran an ad for the movie and one of the quotes on the poster was my quote saying that the film was "One of the most original films in years." -Kevin McCarthy WJFK-FM. MY QUOTE WAS ALSO IN THE NEW YORK TIMES on Friday, August 3rd and the New York Post again on Saturday, August 4th. SILLY! You can see screenshots of my quote in the NY Post and the NY Times!

8/15/07: About a month ago, Tony Perkins from FOX 5 T.V. came into WJFK to do a segment during the Junkies morning show. You can click here to see the videos from that day. Once they were done filming, I happened to mention to Tony that if they ever needed a movie reviewer, to let me know. To make a long story short, I went in for an audition on Tuesday, August 14th at 10A.M. I sat down with Tony Perkins and Allison Seymour and did an audition on tape. They loved what they saw and hired me as their movie reviewer. I will be on-air live with Fox 5 everytime there is a big movie release. Check it out!

8/22/07: I remembering hearing about this film called The Bridge a while back on the Opie and Anthony show. I finally came around to watching it and it was pretty disturbing. For those of you who don't know, the film is a documentary about people who have committed suicide on the Golden Gate Bridge. The director of the documentary actually set up cameras on the bridge and there is actual footage of people jumping. The documentary goes into interviews of the family members who lost these people. It is a very interesting concept. It is one of those things that you know is so terrible to watch but you can't look away (kind of like the 9/11 videos).

8/23/07: Tune into my movie show this Sunday, August 26th, at 6:30pm on 106.7 WJFK. I will be doing a Halloween themed show discussing the original films and comparing to how I think the new film will be. I will be joined by a fellow critic of mine from www.themovieboy.com, to discuss the original films. Tune into the whole show because we will be giving away tickets to the WJFK exclusive screening of ROB ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN on Thursday, August 30th. The film opens Friday, August 31st.

8/28/07: I will be on T.V. this FRIDAY MORNING, August 31st at 8:45 a.m. Tune into FOX 5 if you live in the Washington D.C. metro area. I will be doing my movie reviews live with the morning show crew. It should be a good time. This won't be my first time on FOX 5. You can click here to see videos of me making a fool out of myself as a cheerleader. Tune in this Friday!!
